Next Event:
Session 1
An Introduction to the
"Law & Our Neighbor" Series
This is the beginning of our experience together. The aim of this particular session will be to ignite curiosity, lay out what we are to expect in the sessions, and the frame of mind we'll expect to inhabit with one another.
Session 2
A Confession from the Jewish Faith
We are thankful to have a Guest Speaker from B'nai Israel Synagogue in Rochester for our second session in this series. Please listen and engage with a confession you may or may not be familiar with. Michelle Werner will share her Jewish confession in our presence right after worship.
Session 3
Dialogue around the Jewish Perspective
This will be a great opportunity to share some of the thoughts and feelings that have cropped up in our first couple of sessions in the Law, the Religions and Our Neighbors in This World series.
Session 4
A Confession from the Muslim Faith
The aim of this session to to hear and learn from a guest speaker of Muslim faith, visiting us from Rochester Muslim Community Circle. Please attend, welcome our presenter, and inhabit the space with wonder.
A Confession from the Hindu Faith
The aim of this session is much like the last, but we now will hear and learn from a guest speaker of Hindu faith, visiting us from the Hindu Samaj Temple in Rochester. We look forward to learning about a religion in which many misconceptions abound.
Session 5
Session 6
Dialogue around the Muslim and Hindu Perspective
We've had guest speakers for the past two weeks, and now we have an opportunity to react, reflect, and respond to one another in a session devoted to dialogue.
A Confession from the Lutheran Perspective
Owen Hoegh will attempt to "confess like Luther" in this session. There will be a short presentation, followed by opportunities to share your thoughts and reflections. This will be the final presenter before our final dialogue next week.
Session 7
Session 8
The Final Dialogue
How has your own confession changed over time? Who, or what is the driver of that change? Reflect on your comfort level and knowledge of your own faith and the faith of another. Anything you'd like to bring up about our relation to God's law, and how various faith groups view it and its purpose will be welcome.
